The Pros And Cons Of THC Edibles

by Anita Jackson

Cannabis-infused edibles have been gaining popularity as marijuana becomes legal for recreational use across the country. However, eating THC edibles is quite different from consuming it in other ways. While edibles are discreet and delicious, it's important to know the pros and cons of edibles before you use one for the first time.

The Pros Of THC Edibles

There is no doubt that THC edibles are convenient. Foods like chocolate and THC gummies are going to be pre-dosed as individual edibles, so you can take a small edible with you to consume later and know exactly how much THC is in it. There is no need to measure or estimate the amount of THC you are consuming, unlike with other methods using oils or flowers.

Edibles are also incredibly discreet. Consuming them in public doesn't look like you are using marijuana, which can avoid the social stigma of smoking around others. People will simply think that you are having a sweet treat at the moment. You don't have to worry about others judging you that may not approve of marijuana use, even though it's now legal in many states.

If you are not a fan of smoking, edibles can be an alternative that tastes great. It can make it an easy way to consume THC if you are not a fan of the alternative methods out there, like smoking or vaping. It helps you enjoy THC if you otherwise would not be able to.

The Cons of THC Edibles

Be aware that there can be quite a delay when taking THC edibles. While smoking THC tends to have quick results for how long it takes to feel the effect, THC edibles can affect people quite differently. Depending on the dosage that you take, it could result in hours before you feel the effects.

The delayed onset of the effects of THC edibles is why people sometimes consume too many of them the first time. They feel as if they didn't take enough THC and that it has no effect, and then consume more edibles. This results in them taking too much THC by accident.

The effects of THC can also last much longer when consuming it as an edible. When you combine accidentally consuming too much and the long-lasting effect of edibles, it can result in an undesired high that lasts several hours.

As long as you know the basics of using THC edibles and start slowly, you'll be sure to have a great experience.
